Formulation is a tool in psychology that applies psychological theory to understand difficulties in the context of past experiences and what is keeping them going in the here and now. Assessment and formulation helps guide the treatment plan we will develop collaboratively and will inform the psychological treatment models used.

CBT Therapy
A well researched and effective approach to treat a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression and more complex issues such as bipolar disorder and psychosis. Based on the idea that thoughts, physical sensations, emotions and behaviours are connected. By changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, emotional distress reduces. Helpful for: Depression, low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, OCD, panic, bipolar, psychosis and more
DBT Informed Therapy
Is an effective treatment which helps with regulating emotions and associated unhelpful coping behaviours.
DBT will help you to develop awareness of what leads to unhelpful coping behaviours. You will develop new skills including emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness skills.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR is an advanced psychotherapy which can be used effectively to treat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and to process past trauma. It can change the way in which you think and feel about past traumatic events, reducing current distress and re-living symptoms such as flashback and nightmares. EMDR can also be helpful for other issues including phobias and anxiety.

Dr Emma has post doctorate training in a range of psychological models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
